CSU Workshop #3 Visual Communication - The role of design in business
So much of what we 'read' in today's manic media world is visual. What does this mean for your business? On Thursday 6 Septembers mentees and mentors of the CSU Mentoring Program attended a workshop hosted by Charles Sturt University that uncovered some basic principles of visual communication and how designers 'partner' with businesses to have them communicating cohesively well beyond the logo. It was is a practical workshop that endeavoured to equip attendees with the tools to analyse their visual communication strategy, communicate more effectively with graphic designers and understand just WHAT a designer can do for your business.
Our presenter was Willhemina Wahlin, lecturer in Graphic Design at Charles Sturt University's Port Macquarie campus. She is also the Creative Director of PROOF: Media for Social Justice, a non-profit organisation based in New York City. Willhemina has been designing for over a decade, and also has also worked as a journalist for newspapers and magazines, and combines these skills in her design practice.
Thank you to Charles Sturt University and Ms Wahlin for such an informative and insightful workshop, and to our photographer Kate Smead for capturing the essence of the workshop so perfectly.
